This course, "People-centric Design for Education Using Simulation Technology," is designed to go beyond mere technical skills. It expands to explore how we might utilize it effectively (the 'HOW'), and more importantly, ensure we understand the purpose ('WHY') and the intended audience ('FOR WHOM') in its application and enhance the teaching of STEM, art, humanities, and communication.

Adhering to the principles of Deep Learning and Universal Design for Learning, the first project of the course is based on the sharing byย LAP Lifelong Animal Protection Charityย on the misconception about adoption from shelters, pet shoppers and breeders' behavior, pet-choosing and owning mindsets, as well as the missing links in the local animal protection eco-system, in 2.5 hours, as 5 teams, our MEd students (many of which are current teachers in schools):ย

With the help ofย our friends at Learning Bridge HK, our 5 teams of current and future educators/designers collected feedback on the video prototypes they created for people with ADHD, Hearing Impairment, and Dyslexia as well as their potential employers, before building the Virtual Reality Experience Tools using XRCC.
After 12 weeks of comprehensive learning by doing, the class of 26 current and future Educators embodied the mindset of People-Centric Design, empathized with the target users and key stakeholders, learned and applied both Design Thinking + VR programming tools, tested with relevant users and refined for a final showcase 'Better Reality Day'.
