Drawing from my experience in corporate training and facilitation, establishing psychological safety is crucial for creating a harmonious, immersive, and collaborative learning environment.

I hold myself accountable to making sure learners feel safe, heard, respected, valued, have fun and hope while attending my lessons.

Making sure learners feel SAFE

First and foremost, a safe learning environment means learners are made known:

Why they are here and what they can get out of it
It is OK to ask for help, and there are no stupid questions
It is OK to fail as it is how we learn, and there are no comparisons

Making sure learners feel HEARD

Educators as facilitators of effective learning experiences needs to know from learners:

What they want to achieve and how they feel about getting there
What worries them and what excites them most
How they want to learn and how best we can support them

Making sure learners feel RESPECTED

Our energy level and body language have direct impact on the learning experience:

Be on their 'level' rather than above them, physically and intellectually
Be humble rather than 'know it all', foster a mutual learning atmosphere
Be attentive rather than assertive, you are here to support them on their journeys

We all want to be motivated, recognized, and celebrated:

Encourage every small but significant attempts made out of comfort zones
Compliment every little success and breakthroughs when overcoming challenges
Celebrate not just the outcomes, but courage, efforts, and team works

Making sure learners have FUN

We all learn faster and better when we are enjoying ourselves through the experience:

Make complex subject matters relatable and accessible to learners
Gamify the process to make things light while digestible
Have a laugh together, great de-stressor and team building

Making sure learners have HOPE

The future can be scary and daunting, for learners to stay hopeful about the future:

Show them where they can be doing what, physically and mentally
They can be anything they aspire to be as long as they know their WHY
Don't live other people's lives, but live for other people!
